Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp Neutral Flavoured Oil

  • 1 Onion, Finely Diced

  • 3 Cloves of Garlic, Finely Diced

  • 1 lbs Ground Beef (for pastas and lasagna) OR Plant-Based Substitute

  • 28oz Can of Whole Tomatoes

  • 1 Tsp Smoked Paprika

  • 1/2 Tbsp Dried Oregano OR 1 Tbsp Fresh Oregano

  • 1/2 Tbsp Dried Thyme OR 1 Tbsp Fresh Thyme

  • 1/2 Tbsp Dried Basil OR 1 Tbsp Fresh Basil

  • Salt, pepper

Instructions:

  1. In a large heavy bottomed pan (not cast iron, the tomato juice will ruin the seasoning) heat oil on medium heat. Once the oil is hot add the onions and saute them until translucent and soft about 7-8 minutes.

  2. Add garlic and saute for another 2 minutes. If using beef, add into pan and cook until all the beef is browned. Add the tomatoes and crush them up with a wooden spoon, it can stay in bigger chunks. Add a cup of water and bring it all to a boil.

  3. Once boiling turn the heat down to low, add paprika and season to taste with salt and pepper. If using dried herbs and all of them now and let it simmer for. If using fresh herbs let the sauce simmer on low heat for 15 minutes and then add the herbs.

  4. Serve on pasta or use as part of a bigger dish. Enjoy!
