Just a couple of college kids and their cat learning how to eat cleaner & better.
The faces behind the recipes.
Abel
Known for his breadmaking and incredible coding skills, Abel brings a very scientific approach to everything he comes across. He looks for the best in everyone and everything, making him the most fun person to be around in the kitchen, the office, or just on a regular day.
Simone
Currently working towards my Masters in Nuclear Physics, I’m interested in the How’s and Why’s of any system I come across. This obviously includes cooking and gardening because they are the most integral parts of our everyday lives, whether or not we know it. I make my bread and butter doing freelance graphic design work(portfolio here) so feel free to get in contact!
Our Cat
Our cat, Barack, is named after the Hungarian word for “peach” because of his peach-like colour, not because of the butt. Like this project, he became a huge part of our lives during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020.
We Want to Explore…
The Science of Cooking
There’s chemistry involved every time we cook, and our ultimate goal is to Student-Proof our recipes so no one has to do any guesswork. All of our recipes include supplemental information about the science of what you’re trying to make, explained in a way anyone could understand. There should be no gatekeeping in science!
The Basics of Gardening
As students, we have to make every dollar stretch. What better way to do that than growing your own food? It allows you to stretch your food budget to buy better quality ingredients and eat healthier overall. Want non-GMO’s or Organics? Growing your own food is an inexpensive and easy solution to that problem.
The Importance of Independent Farms
There are a lot of issues that arise from large scale commercial farming, whether it’s predatory labour practices, chemically chemical conditions, or contributions to climate change. Big names are inexpensive for a lot of reasons, but it’s not usually a good thing. By supporting independent and local farms, you’re helping to support a change in the industry through more ethical and better farming practices.
Interested in a Collab?
We’d love to showcase your independent farm or business! Feel free to contact us about your products, practices, or just to say ‘hi.’ Let’s figure out some recipes to help showcase your products in the best possible ways and help promote your business(not that you need our help, we know!). Is there something about your specifically cultivated type of kale that you want everyone to know about? Do you think the chemical compounds found in buckwheat enhance bread making??
We’d love to hear it, and pass on the info! Feel free to shoot us a message.
Like What We’re Doing? Here’s How You Can Help Support Us
There are a ton of ways to help us out. From sponsorships, collaborations, partnerships, or just straight u buying some merch, anything you do is appreciated! There’s obviously no pressure to do this, as we’re just having a great time doing what we love. Keep your eyes out for some Youtube Action coming soon.
