Combining the best of science and food

People always see baking as a science and cooking as an art, but really they both depend on some amazing chemistry.

What happens when you give a Computer Scientist and a Physicist free time? Scientifically analyzed cooking, of course!

Let’s Make the Most of Fall

Autumn is so beautiful and unique, but unfortunately very fleeting. That’s why there’s nothing left to do but go all-in while it lasts! This season we’re spicing it up by bringing you not only amazing fall recipes, but also autumnal decorating and events content over on our Miscellaneous Adulting page!

Cozy Cardamom Ginger Latte

————

Cook Time: 35 minutes

Cardamom and ginger are the perfect combination for a cozy morning. With the fragrant and intoxicating taste of cardamom, the bite of ginger, and the lift of the orange peel, how could you go wrong with your morning latte?

This drink is uniquely fall and autumn through its use of mulling spices and fragrant steam that helps offset the chill in the air. Our suggested pairing? Fuzzy socks and a good book!

Braised Beef & Mushroom Stew over Mashed Potatoes

————

Cook Time: 2.5-4.5 hours

This rich, succulent Braised Beef & Mushroom Stew is the perfect meal for a cold winter day. While the mashed potatoes and braised meat keep you feeling full, the stew itself warms you all the way through. Taking under 5 hours, this meal is an easy way to give yourself or your loved ones a decadent meal that took almost no effort to put together. Or even better, make the whole thing for yourself and keep it in your freezer for a rainy day for up to 3 months!

Not only that but we take a deeper look at the chemical process that your meat goes through that is unique to the slow cooker method. There’s a reason that no matter how tough a cut is that it’s the tenderest meat around once it’s gone through a few hours of the classic low-and-slow method!

Autumn Decorating on a Budget

————

The first thing I wanted to do was decorate my new apartment for every season just in different Youtube videos and Pinterest boards I'd seen. I had no idea the giant cost that it would entail and as a student I didn't have the budget to buy into it. In my mind, a few throw pillows & random pumpkin/leaf things would be easy and affordable. So, we started to figure out how to get around the struggle of seasonal decorating while having 1) not much storage and 2) not having a large budget.

We also included a small list of products we’re really loving this season to help effortlessly bring the autumn vibe into your home for reasonable prices. We’re also looking to help you incorporate seasonal items that you can actually use more than one month of the year!

Non-Dairy Pumpkin Spice Latte Creamer Nothing tastes more life fall than the pumpkin spice latte! But for us lactose intolerant or vegan people, the psl has been known to cause some issues. That's why we're bringing you the coziest, most pumpkin-y coffee creamer we could come up with! This creamer is rich and frothy, with hints of nutmeg, cinnamon, and cardamom.
